Hicks Joins G&T Communications…

G&T Communications, Inc., one of the region’s award-winning public relations and advertising firms, announced last week it has hired former local radio personality Adam Hicks to the position of writer and social media coordinator.

In his current role at G&T Communications, Hicks is responsible for developing everything from news releases to Facebook pages and will oversee all promotional aspects for its clients’ social media networks, including the Re-elect Judge Phil Ginn campaign effort.

“We’re delighted to have Adam onboard,” said Maggie Tilley, president of the firm, in a press release. “With his news background, work on GoBlueRidge.net and appreciation for the community, he is a great resource for our clients.”

Hicks joins the G&T Communications team after serving as High Country Radio’s news director for two years. In his time at High Country Radio, he could be heard on six local radio stations including: AM 1450 WATA, NewsTalk 1200 WXIT, Glory 1130, Oldies 100.7, New Country Highway 106.1 and Mix 102.3. Hicks also wrote news items and updated High Country Radio’s website, www.goblueridge.net.

While serving at High Country Radio, Hicks made a national television appearance on CNN’s Nancy Grace television program as a news correspondent and played basketball against the Harlem Globetrotters when they visited Boone in March 2010. Hicks was also named one of the community’s favorite news reporters in the Mountain Times’ 2009 People’s Choice Awards publication.

Hicks earned a bachelor of science degree in communication from ASU in 2008. He is originally from Claremont, but has been a High Country resident for the past seven years.

G&T Communications, now in its 15th year, has won numerous state and national awards for advertising, newsletters, brochures and websites. The public relations and advertising firm, located in downtown Boone, works primarily with energy utilities across the United States, as well as local clients.
