Meeting Technologies—Making Sense Out of Our Online World

Each of our lives has been forever enhanced by the invention and worldwide growth of the computer and subsequently the Internet. That being said, each of us has also dealt with our fair share of computer- and/or Internet-inspired headaches, causing each of us enough grief to swear off the machines and technology forever. Swearing off the present-day information portals, though, is not an option in the 21st century, so what do we do?

Enter Meeting Technologies, a new business in Boone owned by Ron Meeting and Chris Spillman that offers residents and business owners all levels of help with network setup and security, computer repairs and web development.

“We have more of a focus on the residential [market] than the other guys,” added Meeting.

Meeting Technologies is located at 215 Boone Heights Drive, Suite 202 in Boone, and offers services to any client within a 45-mile radius of Boone. The business is open from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, and on Saturdays and Sundays by appointment. Both Meeting and Spillman offer on-call services to clients 24 hours per day, seven days per week.

Meeting Technologies is a new company—six months old—and both Meeting and Spillman are recent ASU graduates, but that doesn’t mean the services they offer are amateur. Meeting served in the army at Camp Lejeune for three years where he worked in network operations and security. During his tenure, Meeting served as a security camera technician and as an information assurance officer, handling hackers and conducting security management. After graduating from ASU in December 2008 with a degree in business administration with a concentration in computer information systems, Meeting hooked up with Spillman, who worked for AT&T and now works for App Real Estate as a broker. Using his background from the army and his year of experience working for PC Medics in Boone, Meeting and Spillman started Meeting Technologies in January. Staff includes Meeting, Spillman and a part-time web developer. Meeting holds a CompTia Securities Plus certification, which means he is nationally certified to be an information technology specialist.

Meeting Technologies is already assisting more than a dozen clients in the High Country, including the Boone Ford dealership and High Country Press. The business hopes to attract the residential market and new and small businesses to its services. To achieve this, Meeting Technologies features the lowest rates of any similar company in town—$45 per hour.

Meeting Technologies offers virus removal; hardware installations and repair; operating system installations and repair; wireless or LAN installations, updates and configurations; and website development, updates and maintenance. As a unique service, Meeting Technologies also offers tutoring services to clients who want to learn how to use Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, Outlook, Word, Excel, Access and more.

Meeting prides his business on being affordable, honest, customer oriented and diverse, and plans to keep and grow the business in the High Country.

“Maybe we’ll open another branch soon,” said Meeting. “But hopefully on the coast—it’s too cold up here.”

Meeting Technologies is located at 215 Boone Heights Drive, Suite 202 in Boone. The business is open from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, and on Saturdays and Sundays by appointment. For more information, call 828-592-2661 or click to www.meetingtechnologiesinc.com.
