Low Impact Development Workshop Thursday
In conjunction with the N.C. State University Low Impact Development Group, Watauga County Cooperative Extension will host a workshop on “Low Impact Development and Urban Design” for planners, developers, Realtors, engineers, landscape architects and other professionals to receive continuing education credits this Thursday, March 11, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Cooperative Extension office on King Street in Boone.

Snowsports Film Screening Thursday
The Best of the Worst Winter, a locally produced film about skiing and snowboarding in the High Country during the 2009-10 winter season, will have a special screening at Boone Saloon this Thursday, March 11, at 8:00 p.m. Admission is free.

Artfull Palette Friday
The Watauga Arts Council Artfull Palette fundraiser event takes place this Friday, March 12, at Rosen Concert Hall, located within the Broyhill Music Center on the ASU campus, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. The event features specialty hors d’oeuvres from Bandana’s Catering, a cash bar, a silent auction and live performances ranging from bluegrass to classical.

Two Rivers Arts Benefit Friday
The High Country community is invited to experience an evening of performing arts at ASU’s Valborg Theatre this Friday, March 12, hosted by Two Rivers Community School.
The evening’s diverse performers include the Sheets Family Band, Elkland Art Center, the Mountain Laurels, Pink Chain, ASU dance faculty and Rhythm Foundation, all local performing artists in the High Country. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children, available only at the door. The doors open at 6:30 p.m; the performance begins at 7:00 p.m.
The Valborg Theatre is located at 480 Howard Street, behind the Turchin Center. Parking is available after 5:00 p.m. in campus lots, the College Street parking deck near the Belk Library and behind the Turchin Center. Harlem Globetrotters March 16
The iconic Harlem Globetrotters bring their 2010 “Magical Memories” World Tourto Boone on Tuesday, March 16. The performance begins at 7:00 p.m. at ASU’s Holmes Convocation Center, and tickets start at $16.
Since its formation in 1926, the team has played in 120 countries on six continents, entertaining more than 130 million fans.
