The combined Appalachian Symphony Orchestra and choruses will present Carmina Burana, Carl Orff’s most acclaimed work, on Saturday, February 18, at 8:00 p.m. in ASU’s Farthing Auditorium. Tickets are $5
Weather Channel To Broadcast From Grandfather
People across the nation will get a view from the top as the Weather Channel broadcasts live from the summit of Grandfather Mountain this weekend between 7:00 and 11:00 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday, February 18 and 19.

Fourth Annual Little Miss Tri-County Comes to Avery February 25
The search for the future Miss America begins on Saturday, February 25, when almost two dozen of the High Country’s most gorgeous girls—age 1 month to 25 years old—compete in the Fourth Annual Little Miss Tri-County Pageant. This pageant is an official preliminary to the Princess of North Carolina State Scholarship Pageant that will be held in Goldsboro on August 4-5, 2006.

World music will fill the air as the Hayes School of Music hosts the Southeastern Caribbean Chapter of Society of Ethnomusicology annual conference on Friday and Saturday, February 17 and 18, featuring paper presentations, a keynote speaker and a variety of musical performances. All conference events are free of charge, with the exception of the Saturday night performance of Carmina Burana, and the public is invited to attend all or some of the presentations and performances.
