Ski and snowboard season is about to take over the High Country, so now’s the time to purchase new equipment, select new winter clothing and learn about the season’s newest technology. With multiple winter sport outfitters around the High Country, it’s easy to get decked out in a total ski and snowboard makeover from head to toe.
This week, Banner Elk’s Edge of the World Outdoor Outfitters and Boone’s Board Paradise discuss what’s new for 2007.
Edge of the World Outdoor Outfitters
Highway 184, Banner Elk • 828-898-9550
If snowboarding is your preferred mode of travel in the winter months, then head on over to Edge of the World Outdoor Outfitters in Banner Elk.
For the 2007 snowboarding season, Edge of the World is carrying full lines of winter sports clothing from 686, Burton, Roxy and Planet Earth.
To accompany the clothes, how about some new gear? For the female boarder, the best-selling board of the season, the 2007 Burton Feelgood, is priced at $499.95. The Burton Feelgood also comes in some scaled-back models to accommodate the beginner boarder and the lighter pocketbook. For instance, the Burton Feelgood Feather is priced at $299.95 and is designed with the beginner in mind.
For the male boarder, Edge of the World just received a shipment of the Lib-Tech Magna-Traction, the board advertised as being able to “change ice to powder,” according to Edge of the World employee Chris Lagel, who added that the Magna-Traction is “great for carving on icy conditions.”
Also for the male boarder, Edge of the World just received the Burton Un… Inc., a piece of gear “only sold in snowboard specific shops” such as Edge of the World, according to Lagel. The Un… Inc. comes without bindings for $529.95.
