The Town of Boone sponsored the Scrap Exchange at the Watauga County Library on November 11 to celebrate America Recycles Day. The Scrap Exchange is a nonprofit organization that promotes artistic creativity that provides children of all ages the opportunity to make anything—from costumes to hats to toys—from recyclable materials or clean industrial discards and scraps. Pictured are some of the participants who attended displaying the items they made. On the first row from left to right are Brooke Jackson, Owen Miller, Lena Miller and Abigail VanGilder. On the second row are Cassie Jackson and Emma VanGilder, and on the third row are Rafe Kielar, Nicole Hogan of The Scrap Exchange and Molly VanGilder.
