TOP NEWS STORIES

On Monday, November 20, Sugar Mountain Resort opened for the 2006-07 season, featuring a 6- to 24-inch natural and manmade powder case covering four slopes—Northridge, Switchback and Upper and Lower Flying Mile. That feat marks the first time in Sugar Mountain Resort’s 37-year history that opening day provided skiing and riding to Sugar’s 5,300-foot summit. By opening on November 20, Sugar Mountain Resort beat out the majority of the ski slopes in the entire United States, including most in Colorado. The beginning of the ski season also means the beginning of High Country Press’ ski and snowboard column, LIFT TICKET.
