basnight_meetingMarc Basnight, president pro tem of the NC State Senate, came to Boone on Monday at the invitation of State Senator-elect Steve Goss to meet with local leaders to find out about local funding needs. Basnight met with Goss, Boone Mayor Loretta Clawson and Town Manager Greg Young, Watauga County Commissioner Chair Jim Deal and County Manager Rocky Nelson, as well as former State Senator Steve Metcalf, a longtime friend of Goss. The discussion focused on education, roads and water resource planning. Deal and Clawson both expressed their appreciation for the chance to get their voices heard by leaders in Raleigh even before the new legislative session begins.
