Mrs. Corinne Gordy of Land Harbor and Melbourne, Fla. is the winner of this year’s Cannon Memorial Hospital Volunteer quilt raffle. Each year, the volunteer quilters create a handmade quilt to raise money for the hospital. Upon completion the volunteers take the quilt to a variety of community events throughout the summer and fall and sell chances to win their work of art. Chances are also sold at the hospital. Mrs. Gordy’s husband Jim has been a volunteer at Cannon Hospital for many years, so the volunteer quilters were pleased that a fellow volunteer will enjoy their creation. Monies raised from the raffle are used to support Cannon Hospital patient services and to fund healthcare career scholarships for local students.
