Serving Boone, Blowing Rock, Banner Elk, and other towns of the North Carolina High Country | Founded 05-05-05
January 25, 2007 issue
The Moberg family opened their private summer home to the public in March 2004 when their youngest son unveiled a grand addition to his late father’s original design. The result, now known as Crestwood, is a fusion of modern and traditional style. Proudly featuring the inn, a spa, restaurant and the Dawg Star Bar, the unique mountain retreat is located in the heart of North Carolina’s High Country, between Boone and Blowing Rock and just off the Blue Ridge Parkway.
Crestwood has decided to transform itself once again. The Mobergs plan to concentrate on their core business of the inn, spa and resort and lease the restaurant to a restaurateur. The family considers the potential of the restaurant to be unlimited, and the Mobergs want to make sure the proper people are in place to take the restaurant where is needs to be.
Until the official reopening next season, Crestwood’s Dawg Star Bar and Grill will be open. The menu will include appetizers such Crestwood crab cakes and Blue Ridge pinto bean cakes, along with entrees such as skillet-seared duck breast and honey-thyme roast chicken and traditional bar fare such as a galaxy burger and a moonshine steak sandwich.
Crestwood is known for hosting functions such as weddings, corporate retreats, reunions and much more, with many locations to host these events—from the Maplewood Room with its own bar and terrace to the quaint library with its two fireplaces and terrace and the main dining room with its windows and views.
