Super Bowl Party Food on WASU’s Rock on a Roll January 29

Rock on a Roll, a live cooking show broadcast by ASU’s WASU radio, begins its third season on Monday, January 29, from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m.

Rock on a Roll features Robert Parriott preparing vegetarian comfort food and ASU student disc jockey Ashley Wilson playing music and providing commentary, including her opinion of Parriott’s culinary creations.

During Rock on a Roll, Parriott’s cutting board has a microphone above it so listeners can hear the dicing of onion, the mincing of garlic and the preparation of other ingredients.

A microphone is also positioned above his portable butane gas range so listeners can hear the sizzle of the onions and garlic sautéing.

The concept of Rock on a Roll is to provide university students and others with information about nutrition, cooking equipment and relatively easy-to-prepare vegetarian recipes.

Rock on a Roll recipes are posted at www.mostyum.com one week prior to each show. Interested persons can purchase the ingredients, review the instructions and follow along with Parriott as he cooks.

Parriott said, “The fun part for me is knowing there are students and others cooking with me. They can call WASU radio at 828-262-3170 to ask questions during the show. It’s designed to be informative, fun and interactive.”

Parriott will prepare Super Bowl party food, including salsa, guacamole and a vegetarian burrito mix, during the January 29 show.

Rock on a Roll is broadcast on WASU at FM 90.5 and can be heard throughout the North Carolina High Country and anywhere else around the world at www.wasurocks.com.

The July 2006 issue of Southern Living magazine featured Rock on a Roll and Robert’s Most Yum Cooking Show, a television show broadcast by Mountain Television Network (Charter Cable of Boone on channel 18).

Mountain Television Network is currently broadcasting Robert’s Most Yum Cooking Show encore presentations on Tuesday evenings at 7:30, 9:30 and 11:30 and on Wednesday mornings at 11:30, through the end of February.
