New Beginnings for Cub Scout Pack 194

Story By Allison Peacock

Cub Scout Pack 194 is reorganized and once again active in the High Country. The Cub Scouts, a division of the Boy Scouts of America, serves boys in first through fifth grade. Tiffany Christian, Cubmaster of Pack 194, is in charge of this effort to bring boys together in their community.

Pack 194 recently held a charter celebration, the official beginning for the pack. The pack 194 formally recognized the support it receives from its sponsoring organization, the Boone Lions Club and presented club representatives with a charter. The charter celebration provided an opportunity for the boys and the adults in the Boone Lions Club to meet each other and begin establishing relationships.

As the Pack’s sponsor, the Boone Lions Club provides financial help as well as role models for the boys. Christian said that she “anticipated lots of working together” between the boys and the Lions Club in the future.

The pack holds weekly meetings after school at Green Valley School. During these meetings, the boys are split into dens, based on their current grade. The dens’ activities are independent, but all the dens come together once a month for a full pack meeting.

This once-a-month meeting is held in the evening at Bethany Lutheran Church. At this monthly meeting, the boys are awarded the badges they have worked on during the past month. Families are invited because “Cub Scouts are very family oriented at this age level,” Christian explained. “Cub Scouting relies on an adult at this level to help the boys achieve their goals.”

Pack 194 is actively recruiting new members, particularly from Green Valley School and from Mountain Pathways School. For more information, contact Cubmaster Tiffany Christian at 828-268-9630 (home) or 828-262-6934 (work).
