Catch a Play in February

Story by Kathleen McFadden

With the wind howling and temperatures in the single digits, February is a great time to head down to a local theatre and catch a play. Coincidentally, Appalachian and Lees-McRae have new theatrical openings this month—an enthralling drama and two side-splitting comedies.

The 2006-07 Performing Arts Series, presented by ASU’s Office of Arts and Cultural Programs, is bringing Jane Eyre to Farthing for one night, Friday, February 16.

Appalachian’s Department of Theatre and Dance is presenting the comedy Moon Over Buffalo in the Valborg Theatre Wednesday, February 14, to Saturday, February 17, at 8:00 p.m. and Sunday, February 18, at 2:00 p.m.

And Lees-McRae’s Department of Performing Arts presents Noises Off, a comedy in three acts, from Wednesday, February 21, to Saturday, February 24, at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, February 25, at 2:00 p.m.

High Country Press looks at each of these offerings this week to help you choose—if you have to choose. Even better, support local theatre by attending performances of all three productions.
