On Saturday, April 7, Jefferson Landing Country Club will kick off the season by hosting a Tartan Day Celebration in conjunction with National Tartan Day that recognizes the contributions of the Scottish people in the United States. The event will start at noon and continue until 6:00 p.m. with a festival that will include music, food, vendors, heritage demonstrations and activities for the whole family. The Tartan Day Celebration is open to the public and admission is $5, with children 6 and under admitted free. A kilted golf tournament is also planned.
Featured at this year’s event will be the popular musical group Albannach (www.albannachonline.com) from Glasgow, Scotland, with their primal sound of pipes and drums. Also featured will be noted Scottish author and historian David Ross (www.davidrross.org) who has appeared on programs produced by the BBC and by the History and Discovery channels.
Also on the schedule is a sit-down dinner that will include Scottish food and drink, music, dancing, giveaways and more starting at 6:00 p.m. The cost for the evening is $50 per person (including gratuity). Make reservations by calling 336-982-6405. A cash bar will also be available.
Dust off your kilt, get ready for the bagpipes and join in a celebration of a group that has had a tremendous impact on our nation, especially in the Appalachian region. For more details, click to www.jeffersonlandingclub.com.
