NC Wildlife Federation Canoe and

Kayak-A-Thon Fundraiser June 9

Register by May 1 To Qualify for an Early Bird Prize

The NC Wildlife Federation will host its annual Canoe and Kayak-A-Thon Fundraiser on Saturday, June 9, at Riverbend Steam Station on Mountain Island Lake near Charlotte from 8:30 a.m. through lunch.

Paddlers are encouraged to sign up sponsors to raise money for the NC Wildlife Federation. All money raised is tax deductible and will support NC Wildlife Federation’s programs to protect wildlife and habitat conservation efforts.

To qualify for an Early Bird Prize, register now through May 1. This year features more prizes and giveaways than in past years, and the grand prize is a canoe provided by Great Outdoor Provision Co.

Participants and volunteers will receive a T-shirt, lunch and snacks. For those who are interested in participating but don’t have a canoe or kayak, the Mecklenburg County Natural Resources Division has donated a limited supply of canoes and kayaks. Register for the Canoe and Kayak-A-Thon early to reserve one of these boats.

Sponsors of the Canoe and Kayak-A-Thon include Great Outdoor Provision Co, Duke Energy, Mecklenburg County Parks and Recreation, Lowe’s Motor Speedway, Eddie’s Place Restaurants, Dilworth Coffee, Autobell Car Wash and Wild Birds Unlimited.
