ASU Marketing Fraternity Hosts Benefit Golf Tourney April 14

Golfers Must Register by April 3

Story by David Brewer

ASU’s co-ed marketing fraternity Pi Sigma Epsilon is seeking golfers for its 8th annual Tee’n It Up For Charity Golf Tournament on Saturday, April 14, at Jefferson Landing’s New River Golf Course in Jefferson.

Proceeds benefit the Easter Seals and the Kay Reid Fulkerson Child Development Center, the only certified child development center in Watauga County.

The tournament entry fee is $60 for students and $75 for non-students. All players wishing to participate in the tournament must register by Tuesday, April 3. Last year’s tournament hosted more than 50 golfers and organizers are hoping for a packed field of 72 this year to hit the links for charity.

“We’re on a pretty good track to do that so far with three weeks left to go,” said Thomas Tuck III, a member of Pi Sigma Epsilon. Tuck also noted that organizers will accept late registrations.

In addition to a round of golf, tournament organizers plan to hold a number of contests in conjunction with the event, awarding prizes for putting, longest and shortest drive, hole-in-one and closest to the pin.

Breakfast and lunch will be provided during the tournament.

According to Tuck, the tournament raises the majority of its funds through corporate sponsors. Although the deadline has passed for recognized sponsors to register, Tuck said that the fraternity will gladly accept monetary donations to pass along to the tournament beneficiaries.

Currently with more than 60 members, Pi Sigma Epsilon has 130 chapters operating in schools across the United States. The ASU chapter has been in existence since 1979.

To register for the tournament, contact Tuck at 919-971-3123 or TT57326@appstate.edu.
