Picking Up Winter’s Trash

Boone and Banner Elk Schedule Cleanups

Boone and Banner Elk have scheduled spring cleanups in April to spruce up the towns’ roadways after a long winter of people throwing garbage from their cars. Both towns are holding their cleanups in conjunction with Governor Mike Easley’s statewide Spring Litter Sweep campaign during the two-week period of April 14 to 28.

Boone’s spring cleanup is happening on Saturday, April 21. Anyone interested in participating is invited to drop by the Town of Boone Public Works Department at 321 East King Street between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. to pick up cleaning supplies. For more info, contact Marsha Story at 828-262-4560.

Banner Elk Town Manager Hugh Montgomery is actively seeking individuals and civic groups to participate in the town’s sweep from April 14 to 28. The town will facilitate cleanups throughout the two week-period. Interested parties should contact Banner Elk Town Hall at 828-898-5398.
