Find More Easter Eggs This Saturday

Don’t put those baskets away yet. The last Easter Egg hunts are taking place this Saturday, April 7, the day before Easter Sunday. Even though several area hunts have come and gone, some of the best ones are happening this weekend, including the Egg Scramble on the Lawn at the Cone Manor and the amazing 30,000-egg Easter celebration in Spruce Pine.

4th Annual Egg Scramble on the Manor House Lawn

Date: Saturday, April 7
Time: 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.
Location: Moses H. Cone Manor House, Blue Ridge Parkway Milepost 294
Cost: Free

On Saturday, April 7, the National Park Service will host the 4th Annual Egg Scramble on the Moses Cone Manor House lawn. The event will include an egg hunt for children ages 2 to 11, and a scavenger hunt and an egg toss to challenge older children. Age categories will be separated so that all children will be able to have fun. Three drawings for limited-edition ornaments will be held throughout the day. Avery County Parks and Recreation Annual Easter Egg Hunt

Date: Saturday, April 7
Time: Noon to 1:00 p.m.
Location: Avery High School Football & Baseball Fields
Cost: Free

This event has taken place in the rain, the snow and the sunshine every year for nearly 20 years and will be held once again at the Avery High School football and baseball fields on Saturday, April 7. The Easter Bunny will be on hand, after hiding 1,500 eggs, to give out candy and have pictures made with the children. The hunt begins at noon, so participants are advised to arrive at least 15 minutes early. First through third place prizes will be awarded to hunters in each of the three age categories and an overall grand prize will be presented to the child who finds the most eggs. Springfest Eggstravaganza & Easter Egg Hunt

Time: 11:00 a.m.
Location: Mitchell County High School, Spruce Pine
Cost: Free

On Saturday, April 7, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., the Mitchell County Chamber of Commerce, the Town of Spruce Pine and Abundant Life Outreach will host the Springfest Eggstravaganza—the region’s largest Easter egg hunt—at Mitchell County High School. Children will hunt for more than 30,000 eggs while locals young and old can enjoy inflatable rides, BMX stunt riders, face painting and prizes for the kids. The event is free to the public. Concessions will be offered at a cost. Shuttles will start from the area schools at 11:00 a.m. For more information, call 828-765-9935.

Easter Eggstravaganza! for Kids

Location: FaithBridge United Methodist Church, Blowing Rock
Cost: Free

FaithBridge United Methodist Church will sponsor an Easter Egg Hunt and Festival called Easter Eggstravaganza! on Saturday, April 7, on the church's new property halfway between Boone and Blowing Rock. All children of our community are encouraged to attend and enjoy the fun! Festivities will begin at 2:00 p.m. and the Egg Hunt will begin at 2:30 p.m. Activities for children will include face painting, egg decorating, games, refreshments and loads of fun! There is no cost for the event. To find the Eggstravaganza, turn onto Aho Road from Highway 321, and then take a quick right onto Robert Coffey Lane. On Sundays, the FaithBridge congregation worships at the Blowing Rock School Auditorium (the former Blowing Rock Stage Company location) at 11:00 a.m. On Sundays, dress is casual and free child care and refreshments are provided. Ashe County Park Easter Egg Hunt

Time: 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Location: Ashe County Park, West Jefferson
Cost: Free

On Saturday, April 7, from 11:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m., Ashe County Parks and Recreation, in conjunction with Fletcher Memorial Baptist Church, will sponsor the annual Easter egg hunt at Ashe County Park, located off Highway 221 Business in West Jefferson. Hunting parties will be separated into three groups: 3 to 5 year olds, 6 to 8 year olds and 9 to 12 year olds. The event is free and open to the public. For more information, call 336-982-9828.

Midway Baptist Church Easter Egg Hunt
