The Lees-McRae College Division of Performing Arts will present the Kaleidoscope 2007 Dance Concert, Friday, April 13, through Sunday April 15 in Hayes Auditorium. Performances are at 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday.
Students will perform in an eclectic infusion of modern dance, jazz, ballet and clogging pieces choreographed by faculty and advanced students.
Performance pieces include La Belle Danse, choreographed by Stacy Burgess. This piece explores baroque dance, the precursor of ballet, as established in France at the court of Louis XIV. Break in the Horizon, choreographed by Glenn Snellgrose, looks at the ability to empower youth by showing them that they have a voice and can be part of change. Rhythmatic Happening, choreographed by Christine Deal, shows how people naturally pick up on other people’s rhythms in everyday life.
Ticket prices for the performance are $12 for adults and $5 for students.
