Alexander County Clerk of Court Seth Chapman will be the featured speaker at Saturday’s 2007 county convention of the Watauga Democratic Party. Chapman is considering a run against Congresswoman Virginia Foxx in 2008.
The convention will kick off on Saturday, April 14, at noon with a covered dish lunch in the commons area at Watauga High School. The convention itself will convene at 1:00 p.m. in the high school auditorium.
“Seth Chapman is a very dynamic speaker,” said Democratic Party Chair Diane Tilson. “He’s been the top vote-getter in a Republican county for more than 20 years and will make a very credible candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives, if he should decide to run.”
Other featured speakers at the convention will include Sheriff Len “L.D.” Hagaman, Clerk of Superior Court Glenn Hodges, Chair of the County Commission Jim Deal, Boone Mayor Loretta Clawson, State House Representative Cullie Tarleton and State Senator Steve Goss.
The main business of the convention will be the election of county executive officers for the 2007-2008 biennium, election of delegates to the district convention and the consideration of resolutions.
