High Country Kids’ Triathlon Is Saturday

The first-ever High Country Kids’ Triathlon will take place Saturday, April 28, at the Watauga County Parks and Recreation Complex and the Greenway. Kids from 5 to 18 are invited to participate in the event, and all proceeds will benefit the Tot Lot renovation.

The three events in the triathlon are swimming, biking and running, with distances matched to three age categories: 8 and under, 9 to 12, and 13 to 18.

At the conclusion of the race, participants will be treated to refreshments, door prizes and awards. The top three finishers in each two-year age group will receive medals, and all participants will receive a T-shirt and other goodies.

The pre-race meeting and packet pickup are at 8:30 a.m., and the race begins at 10:00. Entry fees are $30 for individuals and $40 for relay teams. For more info and a registration form, click to www.boonesports.com or call 828-262-3788.
