Subway Restaurants and the YMCAs of Greater Charlotte have launched a Subway Fresh Fit™ Video and Poster competition for Charlotte and the surrounding areas—including Boone.
Fresh Fit is a program designed to help educate students and increase awareness about the nation’s childhood obesity problem and to provide incentives for kids to form positive diet and exercise habits. The majority of today’s children remain significantly less active than children 15, 10 and even 5 years ago, and Subway restaurants want to encourage students in the Boone area to register for a contest that will be a fun opportunity for children to show how they stay healthy and fit.
Participants in the video and poster competition will show “What my family or I do to stay healthy and fit” by either drawing on a poster board or recording a video that will be judged by a panel of judges. The winner will receive a $1,500 fitness grant to go toward his/her school, a $500 cash prize, and a three-month YMCA family membership or free camp. A runner-up will also receive prizes.
Kids ages 5 to 17 years old are eligible. Entry forms are available at Subway stores in Boone until Friday, May 4. After all the entries have been collected in Charlotte, a judging period will take place from May 7 to 10, and the winner will be announced at a press conference.
