Daniel Boone Gardens Special Plant Sale May 19

Story by Jennifer Rodriguez

The Blue Ridge Garden Club will host its first special plant sale, on Saturday, May 19, at the Daniel Boone Native Gardens. The sale will run from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. with free admission to the gardens during the sale.

“It will be super convenient for people because the Farmers’ Market will be going on, too,” said Nan Chase, chair of the Daniel Boone Native Gardens Board of Governors.

A variety of cold-hardy wildflowers and plants suitable for High Country gardens will be available for purchase. Featured plants will include Gladiolus ‘Boone,’ Lenten rose, Turk’s cap lily and a special variety of red hot poker. These hardy perennials can live through the winter without protection.

Sunshine Farm and Gardens, located in West Virginia, personally customized a variety of plants that will thrive in the High County year round.

These young healthy plants come prepotted and ready to be planted. Plant pricing begins at $5. Checks and cash will be the only form of payment accepted. Proceeds will benefit the Daniel Boone Native Gardens and will be used for special projects in the gardens.

There is a limited supply of these special native plants for this one-day sale. Plan to arrive to avoid disappointment.
