VFW Ladies Auxiliary To Hold
Special Recruiting Drive May 19

Story by David Brewer

On Saturday, May 19, the local chapter of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary will hold special recruiting drive for new members. The drive will take place from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at VFW Post 7031, located at 144 VFW Drive in Boone. Stop by to find out what the auxiliary is all about and to meet current members.

Since 1914, the Ladies Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States has worked to ensure that America's veterans will not be forgotten and those who need assistance will get it.

To help achieve those goals, members donate their time to events each year to help make life better for active-duty military personnel, veterans and their families, and America's communities. With more than 600,000 members in the United States, Guam and Panama, the Ladies Auxiliary VFW actively supports our troops as well as veterans and their families.

Persons eligible for membership in the Ladies Auxiliary include wives, widows, mothers, foster and stepmothers, grandmothers, daughters, granddaughters, foster and stepdaughters, sisters, half sisters, foster and stepsisters (who attained that status prior to age sixteen) of anyone eligible for membership in the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States. Authorization is shown on the veteran’s separation document.

Women eligible for membership in the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States are all eligible for dual membership in the Ladies Auxiliary. Members must be United States citizens and 16 years of age.
