Boone Crewmembers Give First Report From
John Smith 400 Project

Almost two months ago, High Country Press introduced readersto Austin Hall and Donald Dover, two of the three Boone residents chosen to be crewmembers on the 28-footshallop that is retracing Captain John Smith’s epic 1608 mapping voyage around the Chesapeake Bay. Last Friday, Hall and Dover called High Country Press from Virginia Beach, Va., where they were preparing—along with Boone resident Elizabeth Schale and 9 other
crewmembers from around the world—to leave on

Avery Commissioners Enact a 90-Day Moratorium on
High-Impact Development
