Appalachian Skatepark Celebrates First Anniversary with Packed Competition and Party

Just as the Appalachian Skatepark has been packed to the gills almost everyday since it opened, last Saturday’s celebration at the skatepark—Skate-A-Bration 2007—was no different, with more than 100 spectators and competitors taking advantage of the summer sun to skate, eat, dance and celebrate at the park’s first anniversary.
While Golden Corral served up hot eats and DJ Flo, The Karloffs and D-Lam threw down live beats, skaters in three divisions proved that the Appalachian Skatepark was the place to be in Boone. Spectators lined the sides of the park and filled the three grandstands and all who came walked away happy, well fed and tired.
The Appalachian Skatepark Council—the organization responsible for the creation of the Appalachian Skatepark—would like to thank the following people, businesses and organizations for their support of the Skate-A-Bration 2007 and the skatepark: Dennis O’Neal and Carletta Guy with Golden Corral of Boone;
Jason Bishop with Pepsi; Edge of the World in Banner Elk; Board Paradise; Baree Station; Social Ride Shop; Tom Hanna with Idol’s Tire; Jon Tate with Lot Management Solutions; Sam Calhoun with High Country Press; Ian Kinney AKA DJ Flo; The Karloffs; D-Lam; Brokn Skateboards; Saturday Skateboards; Adio Footwear; Elease Berry; Eastern Skateboard Supply; and the American Ramp Company.
