Bang, Bang, You’re Dead at the Hayes Center Sunday
As a fundraiser for Grandfather Home for Children, the Blowing R
ock Stage Company’s Teen Actors Guild will present a one-day-only free public performance of a play that addresses school violence on Sunday, February 24, at 3:00 p.m. at the Hayes Performing Arts Center. Admission is free; donations will be accepted to benefit the Grandfather Home for Children in Banner Elk, a haven for children who have been victims of abuse and violence.
The Teen Actors Guild is a group of junior and high school students that stages plays addressing social issues, and Bang, Bang, You’re Dead is William Mastrosimone’s acclaimed play about school violence.
The Teen Actors Guild, an arm of BRSC’s Theatre Education & Outreach Programs, the education wing of the company that was implemented in 2001, welcomes all students in Watauga County and surrounding areas. Teen Actors Guild participants serve as BRSC young ambassadors while introducing the wonder of theatre. By addressing topical social issues such as substance abuse, school violence, tolerance and racism, the Teen Actors Guild’s success is twofold: its members both speak to their peers through the art of theatre and aspire to make a difference in people’s lives.
Spring 2008 Teen Actors Guild members include Alise Blair, Sarah Brown, Kaitlin Felts, Hannah Fuller, Michael Knight, Jordan Rucker, Lyle Sterne and Chandler Walpole.
Throughout the year, the Teen Actors Guild is available to tour locations as schools, churches, PTA/PTO, parties, hospitals/nursing homes and festivals with its featured shows. If you are interested in the Teen Actors Guild performing at your school or venue, make your reservation now by calling BRSC Education Director Kim Cozort Kay at 828-295-9168, ext. 3.
