Annual Wanda Ball Raises $4,893 for OASIS
Many area residents know about the Cabbage Queens, a group of women that holds the Wanda Ball every December and donates the proceeds to OASIS, Inc., the local nonprofit that provides crisis intervention and support for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. This past December, the Wandas again provided a Wanda-ful evening of food and fun on December 7 at the Green Park Inn, with heavy hors d’oeuvres, dancing and a silent auction. Nearly 200 people turned out for the evening gala that generated $4,893 for OASIS.
Last year OASIS answered more than 950 crisis calls and provided safe shelter and advocacy for 200 women and children who were fleeing violence. This year, the agency, formed in 1978, is celebrating 30 years of nonprofit service in the High Country.
