The Golf Academy at the Jefferson Landing Club will begin this spring and continue into the fall to help golfers—from beginners to medium- and low-handicap players—improve their games.
Ed Rodgers, general manager and longtime golf professional, announced the new service at the private residential community in Ashe County: “The golf academy is a fine addition to our club,” he said, “and is an essential service that will benefit our members and guests. We think it will be another popular amenity that will make life at Jefferson Landing even more enjoyable.”
The academy will be under the direction of chief instructors Dean Spainhour, golf director at Jefferson Landing, and Bob Leaver, a former PGA and Champions tour player and club professional.
“We will offer one- and two-day golf schools that will cover all phases of the game,” Spainhour said. “In addition, we plan to feature frequent group clinics that can be customized for small groups, families or corporate hospitality.”
Spainhour said the academy will use the latest technology, including video equipment, as teaching aids. “And the teacher to pupil ratio will be four to one,” he explained, “so that everyone gets special attention.” The academy will use the club’s practice facility, as well as the championship Larry Nelson-designed golf course. Private lessons will also be available.
“We are excited about this concept which will be invaluable to golfers of all skill levels,” said Spainhour, “and look forward to a busy and productive season.”
