About 60 percent of construction is done on The Dragonfly Theatre & Pub, located at 215 Boone Heights Drive, Suite 301, beside Outersanctum Salon and Wings 2 Go, according to owner Sheri Baker, and thanks to some local investors, the business will open by this summer.
“We’ve got a good bit of the construction done,” said Baker, “but we have a good bit to go.”
The Dragonfly Theatre & Pub, once completed, will be a movie theater that shows independent and mainstream movies and features food, beer and wine. Baker, however, is unable to obtain ABC permits until the construction is done. Food will include pizza, burgers, sandwiches and salads. The business will be nonsmoking.
“We’re still moving forward,” assured Baker, who recently attracted potential investors to the business, enabling construction to continue. Baker will not name the investors until legal matters are completed. “We’re in the process of getting the construction up and running again.”
Major construction left to complete includes outfitting the building with sprinklers and installing the heating and air-conditioning system, said Baker. She expects the construction to be completed within the “next few months,” and is planning to work at least another month tying up loose ends after the construction is completed.
“We’re trying to be open by summer,” said Baker. “And then hopefully by fall, when the students come back, we’ll be stable.”
