FEATURE PHOTO—KIWANIS DONATES BOOKS TO HARDIN PARK
The Boone Kiwanis is well known for its services to local children, and at the group’s meeting on Tuesday, March 18, Hardin Park students became the most recent beneficiary when the club donated four books for the school’s library. Hardin Park Media Specialist Amy Hiatt accepted the books from Kiwanis member Evelyn Johnson—one book for each of the Kiwanis speakers in February. Johnson told Hiatt she selected books that would appeal to a variety of readers. Going on the shelves at Hardin Park are The School Story by Andrew Clements, donated in honor of the ASU Women’s Barbershop Chorus, Treble Attraction; Dinosaur Dinners by Lee Davis, donated in honor of Dick Rupp; The World Almanac for Kids 2008, donated in honor of the Watauga High School Playmakers; and Duck, Duck, Goose by Tad Hills, donated in honor of Special Olympics.
