Pete’s Signature Barbecue & Country Kitchen To Open in Banner Elk in April

According to co-owner Peter Van Beuren, Pete’s Signature Barbecue & Country Kitchen will open at 2941 Tynecastle Highway in Banner Elk—in the former home of Wildfire Restaurant—by the second week in April. Pete’s Signature Barbecue & Country Kitchen is Van Beuren and his wife Lisa’s second restaurant in the High Country; the couple currently owns and operates The Mountain Tavern & Grille Restaurant at 3990 Highway 105, Suite 6 in Banner Elk.
The new restaurant features a casual atmosphere, homemade barbecue, a variety of barbecue sauces, a full bar, daily specials and comfort foods commonly prepared in homes across the Southern Appalachians. Starting in April, Pete’s Signature Barbecue & Country Kitchen will be open from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. seven days a week. During the winter, the restaurant will keep the same hours but will be closed on Mondays.
For the last 1.5 years, Van Beuren has featured his homemade barbecue and sauces at Mountain Tavern on Monday nights.
“It just took off,” said Van Beuren, who decided to start bottling his homemade sauces and rubs after the success of his Monday night specials.
Van Beuren’s line of homemade barbecue sauces and rubs is called Pete’s Signature Gourmet Sauces and Rubs and includes three barbecue sauces, one steak sauce, a chicken rub and a beef rub. Currently, only one of the barbecue sauces is bottled and in production and the other sauces and rubs are still being produced.
Customers of Pete’s Signature Barbecue & Country Kitchen will enjoy pork ribs, beef ribs, beer, wine, liquor, homemade barbecue, seven different kinds of barbecue sauces and daily specials, such as meatloaf, shepard’s pie, open-faced sandwiches and chicken and dumplings.
“At Pete’s, customers will be able to customize their barbecue any way they want based on what style of barbecue they like,” said Van Beuren.
All of Pete’s Signature Gourmet Sauces and Rubs will be sold at the new restaurant.
