FEATURE PHOTO—WATAUGA STORM WINNERS
The Watauga Storm boy’s U-11/5th grade basketball team won the Carroll County Shoot-out in Hillsville, Va. on March 15 and 16. In game 1, the Storm lost to the Southside Stars of Roanoke, Va. 26-25. The Storm then lost to the Cave Springs Knights 42-41, but as the third seed in the A pool, the team and faced Twin County in the first round of bracket play, winning 54-27. The Storm then faced the #1 seed Southside Stars and took a 38-32 win. In the finals, the Storm once again played the Cave Springs Knights and faced a 9-point halftime deficit. Thanks to a strong second half performance, the Storm won 34-28. The Storm will complete the season at the sixth annual Boone Roundball Classic on March 28 to 30.
Members of the Watauga Storm team are Hagen Dietrich, Hunter Shore, Andy Gilliam, TJ Poulos, Zeb Speir, Harrison Cobb, Hunter Isaacs, Zach Pifer, Matthew Lambert and Adam Greene. The Storm coaches are Stephen Poulos and Rick Pifer.
