Act! Speak! Build! Week is Habitat for Humanity’s international, student-initiated week of advocacy. Along with affiliates all over the country, Watauga County Habitat will host the event from Monday, March 31, to Saturday, April 5.
Local organizers have planned a number of events, including several Youth United interest sessions. Youth United is a program in which youth fund and build a house on their own.
Here’s what’s coming up:
• Monday, March 31—Kickoff concert, 7:00 p.m., IG Greer at ASU
• Tuesday, April 1—Youth United Interest Sessions, 4:00 and 5:00 p.m., Multicultural Room, Plemmons Student Union, ASU
• Through Wednesday, April 2—Visual display representing poverty, Boone Mall
• Wednesday, April, 2—Hunger Banquet, 6:30 p.m., $2, preregister if possible, Earth Fare
• Friday, April 4—Youth United Interest Sessions, 1:00 and 2:00 p.m., Calloway Peak Room, Plemmons Student Union, ASU
• Saturday, April 5—Activity day for youth ages 5 to 10, 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., American Legion by Junaluska Park
• Saturday, April 5—Youth United Interest Session, 12:00 p.m., American Legion by Junaluska Park.
