Historic photographs and postcards from Watauga County are needed to include in a new local history book. Local author Donna Warmuth and historic researcher Brian Lambeth are compiling 200 photographs to publish in a book by Arcadia Publishing. Warmuth has previously compiled several books in the Images of America series by Arcadia Publishing, including Boone, Blowing Rock and Abingdon, Virginia. All are available at local bookstores.
Warmuth and Lambeth are collecting historic photographs and postcards of people, buildings, street scenes, businesses, churches, industries, schools, farming, transportation and local events from all over Watauga County. The deadline for collection of the materials is May 1. By using a computer to scan the photographs, they can make copies of photographs without having to borrow them.
They will be set up to scan photographs from the public on Saturday, April 5, from 10:00 to 12:00 p.m. in the reference area at the Watauga County library in Boone.
