Holston Camp Hosts Open House for Community April 26
Pack a picnic lunch, grab some friends and attend the open house at Holston Presbytery Camp & Retreat Center on Saturday, April 26. For this event, the camp will be open during daylight hours, and visitors may arrive at any time.
Holston Camp is located in Banner Elk at 6993 Hickory Nut Gap Road, a mile past Lees-McRae College Gym.
Families, friends, churches and youth organizations will enjoy spring on the camp’s 150 acres. Volunteers and staff will be available from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. for guided tours and questions. Ask about the camp’s new summer programs, the planned orienteering course and camp facilities. Refreshments will also be served.
While you visit, explore the recreation mountains offer. Walk or drive to the new Lake Lyons—the site that will soon offer a water slide and zip line for campers. Try the mountain slide that measures 120 feet long or climb into the tree house. Photograph the vista of Beech Mountain from a granite cliff more than 90 feet tall. Play Frisbee in the field, fly your kite and hike along trails.
Preregistration for the event is not necessary, unless visitors wish to make lodging and meal arrangements. On the day of the event, visitors should check in at the dining hall.
