A Wee Bit of Scotland: Award-Winning Duo Performs in Ashe April 11

On Friday, April 11, one of the world’s most notable Scottish fiddlers returns to the High Country. Alasdair Fraser and cellist Natalie Haas will perform their award-winning music at 7:00 p.m. at White Hart Woods, located on Mt. Jefferson State Park Road in West Jefferson. Tickets are $20 and include heavy hors d’oeuvres.

In North Carolina, April is Scottish Heritage Month, and the folks at the White Hart Woods Leadership and Cultural Arts Center are helping to celebrate with this concert by the 2004 Scots Trad Music Award winners.

Heralded as “one of Scotland’s most valued tradition-bearers,” Fraser has worked to revive the music of yesterday, translate it into present-day terms and teach it to others for the future of the music. For more details about his music, click to www.alasdairfraser.com.

Not only will the evening feature the music of two international performers, but heavy hors d’oeuvres and a cash wine bar will also available. The night will begin with a bagpiper, located in the “ruins” on the grounds, piping in the guest musician. At intermission, guests can warm themselves by the fires in the “ruins” as the piper fills the night sky with traditional Scottish pipe tunes. White Hart Woods encourages kilts for the evening’s festivities.

Make reservations by calling 336-246-3600 or clicking to www.whitehartwoods.com. This event is sponsored in part by River House Inn and produced in partnership with Celtic Force Enterprises.
