Boone Service League Spring Benefit April 26

Join the Boone Service League for an afternoon of fashions, food, entertainment and shopping on Saturday, April 26, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at The Inn at Crestwood off Shulls Mills Road.

The event will begin with a silent auction and raffle, followed by a live auction during the fashion show. A few of the items include a two-night stay at Belvidere Cottages in Charleston from Laurelmor-A Ginn Club and Resort; a two-night stay at the Mast Farm Inn with use of a Porsche; a two-night stay at the Inn at Crestwood with dinner at Dominic's Table; two nights at the Taylor House Inn in Banner Elk; a two-night stay at Falcon's Nest Cabin; free registration for the National League of Junior Cotillions; two tickets to An Appalachian Summer Festival and fireworks show; a framed magnolia print from Appalachian Gallery and Frame Shop; a portrait package from Emily Angle Photography, Katie Langley Photography and Bob Caldwell Photography; four tickets to the Wachovia Championship in Charlotte; a handmade ceramic sink from Patti Carmen Pottery; will preparation from Di Santi, Watson, Capua, & Wilson; lift tickets to Sugar Mountain Resort; a round of golf for three with a pro at Linville Ridge Country Club; and $300 towards custom blinds or closets from Appalachian Blinds. Participants will also bid on numerous gift certificates and items ranging from restaurant dinners and hotel stays to cleaning services to household decor.

This year's fashion show will spotlight everyday, casual and fine fashions from Belk, Dress Barn, Footsloggers, Monkees, Mast Store, South Clothiers, Tanner, The Fig Leaf Ltd. and various local ASU merchants. Many High Country celebrities have volunteered their time to model for the event, including Mayor Loretta Clawson, NC Senator Steve Goss and ASU football coach Jerry Moore with his wife Margaret. The emcee for the event is Sqrambled Scuares creator and host Buzz Berry.

In addition to the fashion show, everyone will have a chance to get an up-close look at Appalachian State University's 2005, 2006 and 2007 NCAA Division I National Championship trophies, as well as meet Coach Jerry Moore and various ASU football players.

The spring benefit is Boone Service League’s largest fundraiser. At the 2007 event, Boone Service League raised more than $20,000 for many of the area’s organizations and individuals in need.

Tickets are on sale now and are $35 for adults and $15 for children 12 and under. Purchase tickets from any Boone Service League member or online at www.booneserviceleague.org. Included in the ticket price are lunch, a live and silent auction bid number, entertainment, admission to the fashion show and a treat bag filled with sample items and coupons from High Country businesses.
