North Wilkesboro’s Shine to Wine Festival Tickets on Sale Now

Event Takes Place Saturday, May 3

Tickets are on sale now for Historic Downtown North Wilkesboro’s (HDTNW) 4th Annual Shine to Wine Festival to be held in North Wilkesboro on 10th Street, between Main and D Streets, on Saturday, May 3, from 12:00 to 6:00 p.m. Admission is free, and wine tasting tickets are only $15 in advance. After April 25, tasting tickets will be $20.

Tasting tickets will allow festivalgoers them to sample wines from each of the participating vineyards and wineries. Ticket holders will also receive a souvenir Shine to Wine glass. Purchase advance tickets online by clicking to www.downtownnorthwilkesboro.com.

This year's event will feature 15 area wineries including Allison Oaks Vineyards, Benny Parsons Rendezvous Ridge, Brushy Mountain Winery, Cerminaro Vineyard, Chateau Laurinda Vineyards, Childress Vineyards, Duplin Winery, Ginger Creek Vineyards, Lake James Cellar Winery, Native Vines Winery, Stony Knoll Vineyards, Thistle Meadow Winery, Uwharrie Vineyards, Weathervane Winery and WoodMill Winery.

Along with showcasing North Wilkesboro and the burgeoning wine industry in our area, this year’s event will feature a unique Culinary Chef Challenge, where regional chefs from area restaurants will compete for the title of Best Chef, as well as other prizes to be determined. These chefs will display their cooking and presentation talents for a jury of judges and critics.

Raffle tickets are currently on sale to the public for the exciting opportunity to be one of three People's Choice judges for the competition. The People's Choice judges will taste the foods from all the chefs and decide the winner of the People's Choice award.

Raffle tickets are $1 and are available at the HDTNW office at 207 10th Street, North Wilkesboro. The drawing will be held at 12:30 p.m. at the festival. Gate opens at noon. Participants must be present to win. Chef awards will be given at the finale of the competition.

There will also be free musical performances throughout the entire festival by The Brooks Wood Band, Matt Bizzell, the Red Belly Dance and Neu-Tan. The bands are sponsored in part by grassroots funding from the North Carolina Arts Council, a state agency through the Cultural Arts Council of Wilkes, the local arts council.

Local and regional artists will display and sell their arts and crafts during this year's festival. Merchandise will include arts, crafts, clothing, wine racks, food and more. Interested arts, crafts or food vendors may contact the office at 336-667-4875.
