Appalachian Women’s Fund Now
Accepting Grant Applications

Appalachian Women’s Fund is now accepting grant applications from nonprofit organizations and agencies that offer gender-specific programs for women and girls. The Appalachian Women’s Fund is an all-volunteer grant-making organization formed by a diverse group of concerned women in our communities who want to make a difference in the lives of women and girls. All funding decisions are made by women for women.

The Appalachian Women’s Fund is currently accepting grant applications. To see if your organization qualities, review the grant requirements at www.appalachianwomensfund.org. Grant proposals must be received no later than 5:00 p.m. on Friday, August 1. Grants will be awarded on October 15.

The Appalachian Women’s Fund believes that all women have the right to equality, safety, opportunity and self-determination in every aspect of their lives. The members work to achieve these principles and effect social change through grant making, advocacy and community building. The Appalachian Women’s Fund not only supports existing women’s programs, but also promotes promising programs from emerging organizations with small budgets.

Grants are made possible through fundraisers throughout the year. The first fundraiser of 2008 will be Thursday, June 5, when the Appalachian Women’s Fund presents Women of Vision. This exciting and inspirational day will include a screening of the movie Homeless to Harvard, the remarkable story of guest speaker Liz Murray. Murray will share her life story, one that will touch all hearts and clearly demonstrate how our community can help women in need. The fundraiser will also include a luncheon at the Blowing Rock Country Club and a unique auction.

For more information or to join the Appalachian Women’s Fund, click to www.appalachianwomensfund.org or call the office at 828-264-4002. Many levels of participation are available, and businesses are welcome to join.

The Appalachian Women’s Fund recognizes and honors all commitments of time, talent and financial support and invites all women to become personally involved and a part of the solution to offer much-needed help to women and young girls in our community.
