Attention All Artists! Moving Sale at Purveyors Starts Now

Story by Sam Calhoun

After 19 years in business at the same location, Purveyors of Art and Design Materials is moving from 499 West King Street in Boone on June 1 to an undisclosed location in the High Country. In honor of the move, Mike Hill, owner of Purveyors and Wildflowers Fine Art Publishing, is offering 30 percent off all products in the store from now until June 1.

“The idea of moving is daunting,” said Hill. “I’ve spent my whole entire adult life at 499 West King Street—since I was 22 years old. This is huge for me; I can’t believe I’m doing this.”

Although Hill will not disclose the new location at this time, he will say that the new location will feature expanded artists’ services, a retail fine art giclée print gallery, classroom space, easy accessibility, a view of a regional landmark and convenient parking. Both Purveyors of Art and Design Materials and Wildflowers Fine Art Publishing, currently located in Banner Elk, will move into the new location.

To prepare for the move, Hill is offering 30 percent off all art supplies.
“This is an excellent opportunity for artists, students and schools to stock up on studio needs, including paint, fine brushes, easels, drafting tables, pastels, pencils, crayons, paper and sundries,” said Hill. “The public is invited to come early for the best product selection, as participation in this event is expected to be high. I’ve got 18 years of accumulated inventory and I want it all gone before I move, so I’m giving everyone a rocking deal. I’m cleaning out to the bare walls—I just want to move racks.”

Hill said that customers can call the store at 828-265-0209 to receive updates on the move.
