Southern Accent Hosts Annual Fellowship Celebration May 17

Story by David Brewer

On Saturday, May 17, local bluegrass gospel quintet Southern Accent will host the 7th Annual Fellowship Celebration at Cove Creek Elementary School. The free event, which will last from 12:00 to 9:00 p.m., is open to the public and features several talented musical acts, including bluegrass gospel, old-time, folk and traditional gospel.

Starting out as a CD release party in 2002, Southern Accent’s Fellowship Celebration has served as the band’s way to give something back to the people and communities who have supported the band throughout their 15-year career.
“We had so much fun and had a good turnout that we just decided to keep doing it every year,” said Southern Accent bassist and vocalist Paulette Isaacs. “It’s a blessing to have all of our friends and family come out and be in one place. It’s just a big thank you to them.”

In addition to two performances by Southern Accent, the Fellowship Celebration will feature performances by the Harmon Family, Darin Aldridge, Surefire Bluegrass Band, Blood Bought, The Combs Family and Familiar Ground.
The Fellowship Celebration is an indoor event and will be held rain or shine. Donations will be accepted to help offset the cost of the event. No coolers or alcoholic beverages will be allowed on the premises. Supper will be served at 4:00 p.m.
