The Blue Ridge Art Clan, a group of artists living in the West Jefferson area, will present its annual exhibition, Shadow of the Hills, at the Ashe Arts Center gallery in West Jefferson, beginning Wednesday, May 28.
A reception for the exhibition will take place on Thursday, May 29, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Arts Center.
The exhibition includes mixed media and subject matter, including oil paintings, pastels, watercolor, portraits, still lifes, landscapes and more.
Founded in the 1970s by the late Florence Thomas, the Blue Ridge Art Clan is open to any artist in the area. The group meets on the fourth Saturday of each month from April to December for workshops, guest artists and art critiques. About 25 to 30 members show their work in the Shadow of the Hills exhibition each year.
The exhibition is free and will be open until Saturday, July 5. The Ashe Arts Center is located on the corner of Main Street and School Avenue in West Jefferson. For more information, call the Ashe County Arts Council at 336-846-2787.
