Miracle on the Mountain Tickets Now on Sale

The Crossnore School is announcing that tickets for its outdoor drama, Miracle on the Mountain, are now on sale. Those interested in purchasing tickets can call The Crossnore School at 828-733-4305. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children 10 and under.

The play will be presented from July 22 to July 26 at 8:00 p.m., and on July 27 at 2:00 p.m. All shows will be held at Sloop Amphitheater on The Crossnore School campus. “We are happy to offer this story for a second season. It is Crossnore’s story and a testament to the power of prayer,” said Phyllis Crain, executive director of The Crossnore School.

Miracle on the Mountain was written by Morganton playwright Bill Wilson, and was adapted from Crossnore School founder Mary Martin Sloop’s memoir, Miracle in the Hills. It premiered last year to sold out audiences.

By audience demand, The Crossnore School is offering a matinee performance this year. “The Sunday afternoon performance will make it possible for many of our friends who don’t like to drive or be out after dark to enjoy this year’s Miracle,” said Crain. “We encourage everyone attending the Sunday performance to bring a picnic after church and enjoy a good old-fashioned dinner on the ground.”

In another change from last year, numbered chairs will fill Sloop Amphitheater, and each ticket will correspond to a chair.

Lead actress Cathy Stallings will reprise her role as Mary Martin Sloop. She will age some 60 years throughout the play that chronicles the life and times of The Crossnore School’s founder. Much of last year’s cast is returning, along with Director Keith Smith of Hickory and The Neighbors from Lenoir will provide music for the play.
