FEATURE PHOTO—Grandfather Mountain Celebrates 30th Anniversary of Trail Program

On Saturday, June 7, Grandfather Mountain will celebrate the 30th anniversary of its organized trail program. June 7 is also National Trails Day, and Grandfather Mountain has organized a volunteer project for those who love hiking and love spending time on Grandfather Mountain. Volunteers will repaint the trail blazes on a few of the mountain’s trails, and rangers will act as interpretive guides on the hike, answering questions and pointing out prominent features and wildlife.
On June 7, Grandfather Mountain will also have a ranger stationed at an informative booth at the Mast General Store in Valle Crucis. The ranger will be available to answer questions and discuss the backcountry trail system.
