Habitat ReStore of Boone To Move To Old Highway 421 July 1
Story by Sam Calhoun
After many months of searching for a larger location, the Habitat ReStore of Boone is moving from 711 George Wilson Road in Boone to 2447 Old Highway 421 in Boone on July 1. The new location is the old Norris Furniture Building and is approximately three times larger than the ReStore’s current location, according to ReStore Manager Rick Melo.
“I need more room and that was [the only location] we found at the given time,” said Mayo.
The Habitat Restore of Boone is leasing the new building and, Mayo said, he has no plans to close down the current store during the move, meaning that the location at 711 George Wilson Road will remain open and accepting drop-off donations until June 30.
“My goal is to have the new store up and running by July 1,” said Mayo. “I don’t want to close for one day.”
Whereas the current ReStore location featured an outdoor yard for storing products, the new location is completely covered with a roof.
“It will be complete retail, from front to back,” said Mayo.
Mayo said he has no plans to hire new employees for the new location, but he is always in need of volunteers.
The Habitat ReStore of Boone also recently purchased a new truck to transport and pick up donated goods. The ReStore now has a 12-foot truck, a 16-foot truck and a flatbed truck.
