Inaugural Football Camp Begins June 16
Sessions for Players in First through Eighth Grade
The Inaugural Watauga Pioneer “ONE Team” Football Camp will be held Monday, June 16, through Thursday, June 19, at Watauga High School’s Jack Groce Stadium. The registration fee is $80 per camper.
Rising first through sixth graders will attend from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., and rising seventh and eighth graders will attend from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. The camp staff will include Head Coach Tim Pruitt of the Watauga High School Football staff, 2007 Shrine Bowl player Eric Breitenstein and 2008 East-West Player Casey Augustine.
Players will receive instruction in all aspects of football, including passing, rushing, receiving, line play, blocking, pass and run defense. Each camper will receive a T-shirt at the end of camp.
The camp is non-contact. Each camper is to bring tennis shoes (in case of rain), cleats (not required), shorts and T-shirt. Coaches highly recommend that campers apply sunscreen lotion before starting camp daily. Water will be provided; if players bring snacks or drinks, it is their responsibility to keep up with these items.
The organizers thank the camp’s many sponsors: BB&T, WJ Office City, Animal Hospital of Boone, Southeast Radiation Oncology Group, Sagebrush, the Touchdown Club and the Boone Area Sports and Events Commission.
