Ashe Business After Hours & High Country Business Network Meet June 19

The High Country Business Network is partnering with the Ashe County Chamber of Commerce Business After Hours to hold a business networking event from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 19, at the AF Insurance Services, Inc. in downtown West Jefferson. AF Insurance Services is located at 206 South Jefferson Avenuedirectly across the street from AF Bank.

This event will feature an opportunity for business people—both established and new—to network with each other and enjoy a summer cookout for the purpose of meeting others in the community interested in starting or expanding their business.

Following the networking portion of the event, Matt Rumfelt, account executive with AF Insurance Services Inc., a division of AF Financial Group, will deliver the event’s keynote speech, Insurance Challenges of Small Businesses and Entrepreneurs.

Rumfelt is an Appalachian State University graduate in business management who has worked with small businesses in the region for more than 7 years, helping them meet their insurance needs.

This free event is open to everyone connected to business, including those currently in business or wishing to start their own business; professionals such as lawyers, accountants and insurance agents; public and private service providers; county and town officials; economic developers; and community and nonprofit leaders. The HCBN offers networking opportunities for regional business people to get together and share ideas about their business ideas, development and growth. Aspiring entrepreneurs are especially encouraged to attend.

There is no cost to attend; however, RSVPs are requested. To RSVP, email ardi@ardi.appstate.edu or call 828-262-6662.

Sponsors of the event are Ashe County Chamber of Commerce, AF Banking, Insurance and Investments, Ashe County Economic Development Commission and the Appalachian Regional Development Institute at Appalachian State University. Sustaining sponsors with the High Country Business Network are Blue Ridge Entrepreneurial Council and AdvantageWest, the regional economic development partnership for western NC.

The High Country Business Network is a regional support system for small business and entrepreneur development in the High Country. HCBN is committed to promoting a culture of entrepreneurship by providing networking and educational opportunities to the region’s emerging and established business communities. In essence, HCBN creates the forum for High Country business communities to participate in networking activities and business development seminars to encourage entrepreneurs and new business formation. The counties in the HCBN area include Alleghany, Ashe, Avery, Caldwell, Mitchell, Watauga, Wilkes and Yancey.

For questions, call Chilton Rogers at 828-262-6662. To sponsor this program or any of the other HCBN events across the region, contact HCBN Board Chair Brian Crutchfield at bcrutchfield@blueridgeemc.com.
