Asheville Civic Center Hosts Vortex Music Festival June 27 and 28

An all-star lineup of Asheville-area acts and top-notch regional bands will convene at the Asheville Civic Center for the inaugural Vortex Music Festival on Friday and Saturday, June 27 and 28.

The unique indoor event features Toubab Krewe, Telepath, Perpetual Groove, Dubconscious, SeepeopleS, Laura Reed & Deep Pocket and Yo Mama’s Big Fat Booty Band, along with several more bands and DJs that highlight the local music scene in Asheville and the surrounding region.

In addition to the main stage, the Vortex Music Festival will feature a series of electronica-based acts on the Moog stage including Kero, Project 313, Chad FX, Nick Bien, Hardcut, Pyiklone and Moksa.

Tickets for the Vortex Music Festival are $50 for two-day passes or $30 for one-day passes. Purchase tickets by clicking to www.ticketmaster.com or by calling the Asheville Civic Center box office at 828-251-1122.

Vortex Music Festival organizers Night Skye Entertainment seek to highlight local talent, as well as provide a broad spectrum of musical genres to enlighten, inspire and celebrate individual creativity through sound. From the electronica of the Moog Stage DJs and Telepath, to the psychedelic freak out of SeepeopleS and Perpetual Groove, to the global roots music of Dubconscious, Laura Reed and Deep Pocket and Toubab Krewe, the festival offers something for every music lover.

Complementing the festival’s exceptional roster will be Muse Productions—one of the most dominant sound and lighting contractors in the Southeast. Heading up Muse is Newton Carter, who has worked front of the house for bands such as The Who and U2. Carter’s extensive experience will guarantee the best possible sound and lighting quality.

In addition to the event’s unique lineup of stellar regional bands and DJs, Vortex will offer something for the common good. This year’s inaugural event will sponsor three nonprofit organizations: Child Abuse Prevention Services, NCAHA and Manna Food Bank.

Raffle tickets for a grand prize each night will be given to persons bringing non-perishable food items to donate to Manna Food Bank.

The event will also be broadcast live on 105.9 The Mountain, offering non-festivalgoers a chance to enjoy a few songs and interviews from Vortex artists.
