Meditation Class at White Hart Woods Starts June 12
Story by Bernadette Cahill
The latest opportunity to learn Vedic meditation with one of the world’s leading teachers starts Thursday, June 12, at White Hart Woods Center for Leadership and Cultural Arts in West Jefferson with an introductory session. Actual training begins Friday, June 13, and will conclude with two more sessions on Sunday and Monday, June 15 and 16.
Anyone is welcome to attend the introductory talk on Thursday, and the introduction is a prerequisite for those who plan to take the full course to learn to meditate. Each session takes about 90 minutes. The cost of the training is a donation.
Dr. Gayanendra Mahapatra is one of the leading teachers in the world for Vedic meditation and has instructed thousands of people from all walks of life over the past 35 years.
He has already conducted two training sessions at White Hart Woods since late 2007, and meditators he has trained now meet there for a group meditation once a month.
Dr. Mahapatra’s background as a medical doctor adds an additional dimension of understanding to the unique benefits of regular meditative practice. A former vice chancellor at the Vedic University in New Delhi, India, he now works as a stress management counselor for an investment banking firm in Washington, D.C.
Vedic meditation is easy and simple for anyone to learn, no matter his or her age or background, and practitioners can receive immediate health and emotional benefits that are well documented and published in many leading scientific journals. The practice does not require any faith or religious beliefs, just an open mind.
